Spanakopita. It can not " spanigobida, ” not " spans” or " kale pie. ” Spanakopita. You must say this like a genuine Greek- " Spanakopita. ” I cringe at any various other rendition, some other attempt. Here's the ultimate Greek dish: Phyllo dough with oil and spinach with feta filling up. It provides great reminiscence, great satisfaction in my history (not a large number of people I understand are Greek). It encourages great interest; how could such a simple food have this outstanding effect on me personally?
Dinners that include Spanakopita are special. Whenever anyone scents it coming from across the room (or from throughout the house), he or she must beware of the herds of folks that are about to stampede to the overflowing menu (which will probably be gone more quickly than one can possibly say " opa”). ---
Every Saturday night, my dad's aspect of the family members gets together for a great Italian meal of spaghetti and meatballs, and that hasn't become a tradition, it has become mare like a habit. It hasn't become boring in just about any sense- I love Sunday dinners- but they not necessarily special. My personal mom's area of the family members lives everywhere: New Jersey, Vermont, upstate New York, and Long Island. They do not get along perfectly. There's always some sort of episode among everybody in the friends and family. Ever found the movie My own Big Excess fat Greek Wedding? When we're together, that movie virtually depicts our lives perfectly. It can just a mess- it's turmoil. Since it's so exceptional that all of all of us are together (including every cousin and every aunt, dad and Grandma) we find a method to brush apart all of those awful feelings and enjoy each other peoples company for as long as we are able to. And at meal, other meals may vary- Moussaka, Pastitio, maybe a few Stifado, but something that often remains frequent is that Spanakopita. For some reason, I've always connected our happy times together with the not broken appearance from the Spanakopita. Not halves of my family will be peaceful; we've obnoxious and we constantly shout over the other person to...
